The Patriots rookie, who runs back La Mondre Stevenson, has heard people compare his style of play to that of LeGarrette Bloat. He appreciates the praise, but I don’t think he won it early in his career.
“I am familiar with Legalet Brandt.” Stephenson told reporters.. “He’s one of my favorite players, but I don’t think I’m at that level yet. I’m still a newcomer. I’ve never played games in the NFL.”
ESPN’s Mike Rice said Stevenson’s size is clear and he seems to be able to catch the ball and succeed on special teams. He said he expected some people to turn over when the pad entered the photo.
Stephenson, 6 feet, 246 lbs “Battering ram” And the selection of the fourth round from Oklahoma began as a new employee of Zero Star who competed at the JUCO level.
He has already come a long way throughout his career, but he still believes there is plenty of room for growth.
“I’m proud to be a very versatile player,” Stevenson said. “I’m learning how to do all of these phases even better than they are today.”
Stevenson said his focus was on sponges, absorbing as much information as possible. He’s learning how to adapt to NFL life on and off the field, with a particular focus on running back buddies such as Damien Harris, Sony Michel, and James White.
He said there was more to handle than at the college level, and it’s important to learn the playbook quickly to avoid delays. Stevenson called aggressive coordinator Josh McDaniels a “genius” and said he focused on making sufficient efforts to grasp all the concepts.
Grind is worth it because he’s trying to achieve the goals he set many years ago.
“This is what I’ve been dreaming about since I was about seven,” Stevenson said. “It feels great to be around all these pros and around so many great players. I’m just incorporating it all.”
