After serving as interim sheriff from January, the King County Council unanimously approved Patty Cole Tindall as the new King County Sheriff on Tuesday, May 24.
According to the county, Coultindal was the first sheriff to be appointed since King County voters changed from elected positions to appointed positions.
“Because of the major challenges in providing both basic public security and the changes required by the community, Patty Cole Tindall is unique in his experience and leadership in taking on the role of sheriff. It brings a great combination, “said Claudia Balducci, Chairman of the Council. “She proved that she could work with law enforcement agencies and a variety of people in the community, and lead an effective organization while driving change.”
Prior to being appointed Sheriff, Cole-Tindall has been Sheriff since 2020. According to the county, Cole-Tindall was director of the King County Labor Relations Department for six years.
