Kingsville, Texas — It was a great honor for a woman who has devoted much of her life to the community in Kingsville and Kleberg County.

Today, the King’s Building Pavilion on 6th Avenue has been renamed in honor of Maggie Salinas.

Salinas is the chairman of the History Committee of Kingsville and Kleberg County.

Salinas has devoted more than 60 years of her life to volunteering and working with the community, but now at the age of 87 she has no plans to quit.

“I am very overwhelmed, but very happy. At the same time, I am very happy with the people in attendance. May I pray to them so that I can have a healthier year and continue working I’m going to ask, the community, “said Salinas.

“She has helped so many people. She has a very good heart. This is a really great compliment to her,” said Gloria Begger Cantu.

Among her many achievements, Salinas was one of the founders of the Laposada procession, which was first held in December 1990. She also co-founded the annual Community Laposada Festival in Kingsville.
