Tucson, Arizona (KGUN) — Wednesday night, Pima Community College celebrated the graduation of more than 3,000 graduates.

The graduation ceremony, usually held at the Tucson Convention Center, was the first face-to-face ceremony in two years and the first outdoor ceremony.

The family packed the Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium to support the family.

“It makes a lot of sense to me because I’m the family of my first generation to graduate,” said Emily Hohmann. “It’s a lot of work. It takes years to understand what I want to do, so what I’m doing is huge.”

Hohmann added that it is important to hold the ceremony directly outdoors.

“In fact, having a face-to-face ceremony, and one of the biggest steps in meeting in my life, makes a lot of sense not only for me but for my family.”

Susanna Delgado, whose son Chris works at KGUN9, was grateful that her family was able to attend.

“I thank him Chris and my daughter Christina, thank you, my husband Armando wants to say thank you for supporting me and always holding my back,” Delgado said. ..

The speeches heard by the graduates were given by Mayor of Tucson, Regina Romero and Webster Rose. Rose gave a graduation speech and focused on overcoming challenges.

“We can beat anything that tries to stop us in a pandemic life,” Rose said. Tonight, if you look at everyone here at Pima Community College Graduation Tucson, it’s definitely a win. “

The university has not yet announced whether they will graduate at TCC next year or again outside the stadium.
