Colorado Springs — The courage and sacrifice of men and women who have died on duty for decades will be honored on Peace Memorial Day.

On Friday, Pikes Peak area officials took the time to honor their own sacrifices during the ceremony.

Vince Niskushi, Colorado Springs Police Chief, said:

The family of fallen heroes also attended the ceremony, including the family of Deputy Secretary Mika Flick, who died in January 2018.

Deputy Jeff Hopkins’ name was engraved in the Colorado Springs Police Officer Memorial earlier this week.

Hopkins died in April 2020 after being infected with COVID-19. His death was ruled as a line of duty death.

“Unfortunately, for many of us here today, we know what it’s like to lose a fellow officer, and the loss of Deputy Hopkins has shaken our entire community,” said Niski. Said.
