Washington (AP) —The Pentagon was blocked after multiple gunshots were fired near the facility’s subway station on Tuesday morning.

According to two people familiar with shooting, at least one was down and spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to disclose information. The person’s condition was unknown.

The incident occurred on the Metrobus platform, which is part of the Pentagon Transit Center, the Pentagon Conservation Forces Protection Agency tweeted.

The Pentagon announced that the facility had been closed for “police activity.”

A police investigation ordered the subway to bypass the Pentagon.

Associated Press reporters near the building heard multiple gunshots.
