Colorado Springs — Attorney General Phil Weiser has announced that Pfizer will refund more than $ 107,000 to approximately 1,500 Colorado consumers after not receiving coupons for the three drugs.

From 2014 to 2018, Pfizer provided out-of-pocket coupons to help patients with out-of-pocket costs for drugs such as Estring to treat moderate to severe symptoms associated with menopause. The Quillivant; Flecto0r Patch, which treats attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a prescription NSAID patch that treats acute pain from mild tension, sprains, and bruises.

Many coupons state that consumers “do not exceed” a certain amount. A study by the Colorado Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Section found that during that time, hundreds of patients paid more than the “pay below” amount stated on the coupon.

The coupons offered by Pfizer included small terms and conditions that set out potential savings limits. They even stated that out-of-pocket costs could exceed the “pay below” amount. However, these terms were not clearly stated and violated Colorado Consumer Protection Act.

“Many Coloradans use coupons from pharmaceutical companies to access and pay for expensive medicines,” Weiser said. “We continue to prioritize fair treatment of Colorado consumers and hold companies like Pfizer responsible for failing to meet promises and hiding important terms in hard-to-read fine text.”

Pfizer provided consumers with coupons through healthcare providers as plastic cards or printable internet-provided coupons.

In the settlement, Pfizer agreed to pay compensation to affected consumers who paid more than the amount stated on the coupon. The company also reimburses state and attorney fees to the Attorney General’s office for future consumer fraud, consumer credit or antitrust enforcement, consumer education, or public welfare purposes. Pay. The settlement was reached in collaboration with Vermont, Arizona, and Kansas.

Over $ 100,000 will be distributed to Colorado consumers in checks mailed within the next four months, along with a letter explaining the settlement.
