Events around the area honored those who dedicated everything after the terrorist attacks of 2001.
KOIN, Oregon — Local fire departments and city governments around Portland recall 20 years after the worst terrorist attacks in US history on September 11, 2001.
The ceremony was held along the Vancouver waterfront. At Portland International Airport, a silent prayer took place early in the day. And Portland Fire & Rescue remembered 9/11 at a ceremony honoring the firefighters who did their best.one The speaker was PFR Lieutenant Neil Martin, who rushed to New York City. Lake Oswego raises and lowers the American flag at 5:45 am to commemorate the attack on the first tower of the World Trade Center at 8:45 am in the east. The ceremony was held. The second tower was struck at 6:03 am and was held to commemorate the fall of the 21-bell salute.
Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue honored those who died at the Twin Towers on Friday. The CF & R raised the flag and lowered it to a half-mast, and Fire Chief Scott Nebes said in memory of all those lost when the World Trade Center tower collapsed.
