When the wreckage of Hurricane Ida struck New Jersey last week, the devastation left behind was something most inhabitants had never seen before.

Satellite images taken throughout the state show how record rainfall led to amazing levels of flooding along the Raritan River. The flood submerged most of the neighborhood, roads and parking lots in the area.

Several towns in the state, including Manville, New Brunswick, Summerville, and South Bound Brook, have been severely damaged by the floods.

at least 25 people Governor Phil Murphy said Friday that six people were reported missing after being killed in an unprecedented flood in New Jersey. Deaths also occurred in nearby New York and Connecticut.

Images of the flood and subsequent damage seen here were taken by Maxar Technologies on September 2nd and 4th.
