Pleasant Hill school, assisted living home damaged in storm – Nashville-Davidson, Tennessee

Pleasant Hill, Tennessee (WTVF) — A heavy storm on Thursday damaged Pleasant Hill Elementary School in Cumberland County. As a result, all Cumberland County schools will be closed on Friday, allowing authorities to assess the damage.

According to a preliminary report by the National Weather Service, an EF-0 tornado struck the area on Thursday afternoon with winds up to 80 mph.

The Cumberland County Mayor’s Office, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Cumberland County Fire Department, Cumberland County EMS, Cumberland County EMA, and Cumberland County School have issued joint press releases after the storm.

The ambulance crew was called to school around 3:17 pm. All students and faculty members are explained. Authorities said minor injuries were reported. No one was sent to the hospital for treatment.

Pleasant Hill Elementary, Fletcher House and Community House were damaged by the storm.

Emergency Management Agency officials called on everyone to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to continue working.
