Atlanta (CBS46)-Early Thursday morning, police arrested a man after reporting a shooting on Atlanta’s Peachtree Road.

Around 5:30 am on June 10, Atlanta police answered a phone call fired at 2100 blocks on Peachtree Road.

When the police arrived at the scene, he approached a man walking down the road with a pistol in his hand.

According to police, they found a pistol a short distance from the man he abandoned it while he was walking. Police were able to arrest the suspect on the scene.

Police admitted that the man belonged to him and told police that he pulled it after a stranger approached him aggressively. Then he told them he dropped the weapon, and it was accidentally released. The suspect also added that he kicked the gun, which fired the gun again.

During the investigation, police did not find anyone injured after the incident. The suspect was charged with reckless acts and taken to a city prison.

“We are pleased with the prompt response of these police officers and are proud of the work they have done to safely arrest the suspect,” Atlanta police said.
