Las Vegas (KLAS) — A man who was injured while in police detention reportedly died.
This happened from a phone call just after 5am on Wednesday. Police answered the phone at 3500 blocks on Paradise Road, south of Desert In Road.
The caller said the man had damaged the front door of a company in the area. The caller also said that the subject was screaming in the business and didn’t make sense.
Security forces originally tried to detain the man, but failed.
They say the man tried to escape as soon as the police arrived at the scene. The policeman caught up with him and locked him next to the building.
When police tried to detain him, they say the man hit the officer in the face. Police then used empty-handed tactics to detain him.
When the man was handcuffed, he continued to resist. Police say he then kicked an officer.
The man had police dent his leg to prevent him from kicking someone else.
Police say he repeatedly hit his head against the police car window when the man was transferred to the Clark County Detention Center. Shortly after arriving at CCDC, the man became unresponsive.
The man was taken to UMC by ambulance and was sentenced to death there.
The male ID has not been published yet.
