Haralson County, Georgia (CBS46) – Trafficking investigations are underway after a mother who paid to bring her son reported that her child had been kidnapped, investigators said.
It was early Monday morning after the mother went to the Georgia Welcome Center in Haralson County to meet someone to pick up her son. The woman had previously paid a down payment, but the smuggler brought her child back because she did not have enough money for the final payment.
She called 911 and reported that her child had been kidnapped. Later, a deputy found the child with several others at the Welcome Center in Alabama. Five people, including a pregnant woman, were arrested and their children were taken to the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office.
