Northridge, Ohio (WJW)- Northridge Building Police officers helped rescue a six-foot snake off the road on Monday afternoon.

Police officers received a call that the witnesses initially thought was a large rattlesnake in the middle of Lorraine Road around 1:30 pm.

When they found the snake on the road, they noticed it wasn’t rattling. Still, officials said they didn’t know what kind of snake it was.

Police officers on the scene used a rope to put a snake that turned out to be a rat snake into a paper bag from the roadway. After that, it was shot by a ranger from Cleveland Metroparks.
