Omaha, Nebraska (KMTV) —Tuesday is Nebraska’s primary day, and the Douglas County Election Commission is ready to celebrate the day it believes it has the highest total votes in the governor’s elections in county history. it’s finished.
Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Creuset predicts a turnout of 35%.
The next highest turnout was 27% when Tom Osborne and Dave Heineman squared in the governor’s election in 2006.
Mr. Creuset states that he has sent over 85,000 early ballots, which is also a record.
“Look at the number of early votes and look at your interest in racing. This is clearly a very contested governor election on the Republican side, and what campaigns, political parties and candidates say to us. I feel like I’m there. ” Brian Kruse, Election Commissioner of Douglas County.
The Election Commission has nine new scanning machines. Each machine is run by two people from different parties and can scan 250 sheets of paper per minute.
Some caveats — All votes are closed by 8 pm. If you receive an early ballot, you must use it to vote, sign the back of the envelope, and place it in one of the 13 drop boxes by 8 pm.
Creuset also wants to remind everyone to check the polling place before leaving home.
