Pigeon’s Roller Skate Shop, a long beach-based skate shop, is building a temporary roller link at the 2nd & PCH shopping center in the marina.
The link is scheduled to open on September 18th and is currently undergoing an extension including a skate rental booth and a kiosk for skates, accessories and merchandise. According to General Manager Olivia Crosby, the popup will run until the end of December.
During the pandemic, skating became popular and local vendors such as roller skating brands and Pigeon’s roller skating shops regularly ran out of inventory. However, full-time indoor roller links have been plagued by months of closure. As a result, some links in the LA area have been closed and Pigeon’s wants to fight the second and PCH pop-ups.
“I hope it stops this dead on that truck and everyone goes: let’s get that floor back,” Crosby said.
Pigeons Roller Link classes include skating fitness, roller derby, beginner skating lessons, roller skating dance and choreography, artistic skating and kids clubs.
“The demand for private skating venues is so high that we are excited to work with 2ND & PCH to create the perfect place for skaters of all ages to have a unique experience this fall,” said Pigeon Skating Shop. CEO founder Shayna “Pigeon” Meikle said in a press statement.
