Porter Ranch fire: Over 100 firefighters battling a major emergency brush wildfire – Fresno, California

Porter Ranch in Los Angeles (KABC)-Over 100 firefighters are fighting a large wildfire in the Porter Ranch area on Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out just before 3:30 pm on the 11200 block of Porter Ranch Drive. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, seven acres of grass were scorched south of the 118 Freeway.

It contains 75% as of Sunday evening.

Approximately 140 LAFD firefighters responded to the scene of ground and air attacks against the fire.

According to the LAFD, the crew was able to stop the fire from progressing around 4:30 pm.

Authorities call the flame Porterfire. According to the LAFD, the flames were fueled by winds from the south at 10-15 mph.

Several spot fires have been reported near and inside the Monteria Estate, but at this time the houses have not been threatened and there has been no evacuation, according to the LAFD.

Fire officials say the fire destroyed pickup trucks parked in many places adjacent to the 118 highway.

No injuries have been reported.

California Highway Patrol issued a SIG alert at Porter Ranch. The 118 Freeway Off Ramp to the East to Porter Ranch Drive will be closed for at least an hour due to a fire, CHP said.

The driver needs to find another route.

According to the LAFD, the source of the fire was at or near a homeless camp near the highway, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
