Portland, Oregon (KOIN) —Saturday, a truck depot and long-distance trucking collaborated to give back to the Portland community during a pandemic. Together, they handed out turkeys to families in need.

The event took place on Hayden Island and served as a way to deliver the cheers of the holidays.

The family was able to drive and get a free frozen turkey for Thanksgiving.

The owner of the truck depot and long-haul truck, Orel Davidian, is pleased to give back to the community.

“Many families struggled to lose their jobs. I wanted to help them with a simple turkey so that they could have Thanksgiving,” he said.

They distributed a total of 300 turkeys on Saturday on a first-come, first-served basis. Some who came to pick up the turkey said they were grateful for their generous action towards the holidays.
