Knoxville, TennesseeWort) — Powell’s “can opener” attacked again, damaging another vehicle on Thursday.

The low-hanging railroad bridge on Central Avenue Pike on Powell’s Irwin Drive was the site of multiple accidents, which locals named “can openers.”

On Thursday, the bridge claimed another victim when the truck tried to pass under the bridge and the top was stripped off like a can. As of yesterday afternoon, police reports had not yet been submitted.

The bridge is 11 feet 11 inches, which is too short for most box trucks and other heavy vehicles to descend without an accident. The road leading to the bridge has many signs indicating low clearance, but the vehicle is still torn.

Police reported that the bridge caused at least three other accidents this year. One in January, February and March.
