Colin Powell Opened to journalist Bob Woodward about his health struggle, which may have been his last interview before his death.

“Don’t say no or feel sorry for me for God. I’m (almost) 85 years old,” Powell told Woodward after telling Woodward about fighting multiple myeloma for nearly two years. Said. “I haven’t lost a day fighting these two illnesses. I’m in good shape.”

Powell, the first black Secretary of State in the United States and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, died Monday at the age of 84 from a Covid-19 complication. Multiple myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells, suppresses the body’s immune response. He also had Parkinson’s disease.

Powell continued. “I took a lot of exams and got there myself. I get in the Corvette, get out of the Corvette and go to the hospital. I also go to the clinic to get a blood test. I do it. I don’t advertise or announce it, but most of my friends know it. “

CNN has obtained a voice interview with Powell on July 12 about Woodward’s latest book, Danger, about former President Donald Trump.

Powell’s pioneering career spanned numerous presidential administrations. He was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the George HW Bush administration and won a US-led victory in the first Gulf War. However, as Secretary of State of the George W. Bush administration, he played an important role in pushing false information before the United Nations to advocate the 2003 Iraq War.

In a July interview, Woodward discussed Powell’s view of the war and his Monica as a “passive warrior.”

“Whenever it’s asked to me, I say it’s true. I’m a reluctant warrior. I don’t like war. I don’t want to be a warrior,” Powell said. “But remember other things that are well known about me. And that’s what we’re going to war with, and I can do everything I can to defeat someone’s junk and win. I will. “

“By the way, it’s known as Powell’s doctrine,” he added.
