Albuquerque, New Mexico (KRQE) – A 17-year-old pregnant woman who was shot dead in an apartment complex in southeastern Albuquerque in May said. This happens after a teenager is charged with killing a baby.
Carla Maragon remains traumatic for just six months from the most traumatic night of her life at the Aspenridge apartment off Kathryn and Louisiana on May 14.
Maragon said she was in the parking lot when 15-year-old Adam Herrera and three other men began to harass her and her family. After a quarrel between the two groups, things began to escalate. At that time, Maragon said Herrera shot her and four others.
She said she was seven months pregnant at the time and had her stomach beaten twice. She was in a coma for three days, so I don’t remember much. However, she was taken to the hospital, where the doctor said she had an emergency caesarean section. She said her baby was alive for about 30 minutes before she died because the bullet hit her head.
“I hate him. Every time I see him in court, I get tired of him,” Maragon said. “It makes me sick, he’s a baby murderer. When people say,” Oh, he’s a kid, he’s 15 years old, “it makes me sick. No, I was a kid. I was 17 years old. My baby was a baby. He didn’t think about shooting me twice. “
In June, APD identified 15-year-old Adam Herrera as a suspect in shooting and arrested him. Herrera has been in juvenile detention center since then and is now being charged as an adult, facing one murder, five counts of deteriorating batteries, and illegal carrying of pistols. Herrera pleaded not guilty.
Unfortunately, Maragon said he could no longer have children after being injured in the shooting. The Bernarillo County District Attorney’s Office said it brought these accusations based on new evidence and new information from the medical investigator’s office.
