Somerville, Massachusetts. (WHDH) – Abandoned Dunkin’s cup dragged her off the Middlesex Fels Reservation hiking trail, leading to the arrest of a Medford man allegedly repeatedly hitting a head woman on a rock before raping. The prosecutor said.

According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, 28-year-old Brady McCue was arrested by the Summerville District Court on Monday on charges of murder, assault, and armed attacks by assault with dangerous weapons.

When a 48-year-old woman unknown to McCue was walking in the area of ​​Leslie Road Trailhead around 8 am on Friday, McCue hit her 14 times with rocks, sexually assaulted her, and then from the scene. Fleeing, prosecutor Carry Spiros told the court.

The victim was seriously injured in the head and face, but she was conscious when the paramedics found her. She was also able to provide a detailed description of the suspect and information about Dunkin’s coffee he had when he was suspected of attacking.

“Her attacker had a white coffee cup. Investigators focused on that coffee cup. They were able to find a sticker on its side. It was the order number and it was purchased. It showed where it was purchased, including the time it took, “Spiros explained. “They went to the Dunkin Donuts where the coffee cup was purchased. The coffee was purchased at Medford Square.”

Spiros said investigators checked the surveillance footage at Dunkin’and found an image that matched McCue’s purchase of the coffee in question.

McCue is said to have admitted the crime by telling the police that he lived with schizophrenia and was not taking his medication.

“Before buying coffee at Dunkin Donuts, he left the apartment with the intention of hurting someone,” Spiros said. “He later showed that he left the apartment with the intention of killing someone.”

According to Spiros, the victim told investigators that McCue threw a jacket over her and left her dead.

McCue has been detained without bail until the second court hearing on December 6.

Investigation is ongoing.
