Public invited to draw temporary chalk art in Kaka‘ako – Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu (KHON2) — From Friday, March 19th to Sunday, March 21st, we invite the public to create temporary chalk artwork in the SALT barn in Kakaako.

To express your creativity at the “Stop, Drop & Chalk” event, you can stop by for free from 9am to 5pm on dates available to people of all ages.

POW artist! Wow! Hawaii also volunteered to talk to participants on Saturday and demonstrate the technique of drawing chalk. Founder and lead director of POW! Wow! Hawaii said the artist is looking forward to the event.

“For years, the general public has been watching as a POW. Wow! Artists have transformed our Kakaako district with vibrant murals and street art. Now we artists I look forward to seeing people express their creativity in the medium of chalk. I am particularly excited to encourage Keiki to discover their voice and the world through art. “

The artist will attend the event the next time on Saturday.

From 9:30 am to 11:30 am Luke Denif, POW! Wow!Artist
From 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Jasper Won, POW! Wow!Founder and Lead Director
2:00 pm – 5:00 pm Lana Svirezheva, POW! Wow!Artist

Participants are encouraged to draw positive messages and images on the outdoor floors of the barn to revitalize the community. Individuals can use either their own chalk or the chalk provided at the event.

There is also a whipping machine for children and a free doggie treat for dogs brought in for the experience.

Everyone must wear a face mask and social distance guidelines apply to the event.
