Public school hall of fame

The Nashville Public Education Foundation (NPEF) hosted hundreds of virtual participants to celebrate community and public school leaders, with winners and presenters at the scene of the Public School Hall of Fame event.
The annual Hall of Fame, now in its 17th year, honors individuals and organizations dedicated to improving the city’s public schools and investing in students.
Winners of the Distinguished Alumni Award were selected for their contributions to the Nashville community and public schools. These talented MNPS graduates use their unique skills and talents to give back to students in the city and show the wonders they can achieve through quality education.
California’s 7th Senator Brenda Gilmore received NPEF’s highest honor, the Nelson C. Andrews Achievement Award. This award was sponsored by Vanderbilt University.
Well-known MNPS graduates Alex Jahangir, Lisa Hicks Ferrelli, Don Hardin, Jr. Was inducted into the NPEF Hall of Fame with an award sponsored by Belmont University.
The Annette Eskind Inspiring Educator Award, presented by UBS to Jan Esterline and Daven Oglesby, recognizes MNPS educators who can help transform the lives of students in and out of the classroom. Each Inspiring Educator receives $ 2,500, plus $ 2,500 to help the school support the job.
Jennifer Novo, Caroline Bizot, Markita Terry, Riki Rattner and Frank Mamone received the Thomas J. Sherrard Inspiring Innovation Award BeWell in School. Sponsored by Nissan, this award honors organizations that go even higher to make a difference for Nashville students. Each Inspiring Innovation winner will receive a $ 5,000 grant to advance their mission.
