Corpus Christi, Texas — October is known as the National Awareness and Prevention Month. Purple doors are for those who are struggling to leave an abusive relationship or who want to distinguish the signs of that warning.

Maribel Aledondo of Purple Door said domestic violence can result in various forms of abuse.

“Mentally, emotionally, economically, sexually, physically, often it’s one, two, or a combination of all of them, and abusers often try to wear out their partners. “Aredondo said.

Arredondo said it was important for those in need to find it. The organization has shelters that are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

They also state that in Texas, one in three women and one in four men experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Because of these trends, the center offers a variety of services to help people in need.

“Case management, legal services, we can help them with protection orders to go to court,” Arredondo said. “We offer free counseling, free peer support, and everything they might really need.”

Purple Door also provides training for those who want to distinguish what an abusive relationship looks like, especially for businesses.
