MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow revealed on Wednesday that her partner had been diagnosed with skin cancer after noticing a strange mole.

Madow, 48, said she and Susan Micula had played in a minor league baseball game “a few months ago” when Susan pointed out that her mole had changed.

“Simply put, Susan was right,” Madou said in the show. “I went to a dermatologist … I did a biopsy and found that it was skin cancer.”

Anchor said she had surgery on NYU Langone last Friday, which explained her neck band-aid and her few days’ broadcast.

“I will definitely be fine. I will be completely fine,” she said.

Madou also urged people, especially those with moles, to undergo regular examinations by a doctor.

“It was only by Susan’s grace that I found mine in enough time for it to be completely curable. I always thought it was okay, so I did something like that. Because I’ve blown my promise forever to check. Well, in this case it was Susan who checked it for me. And thank God. Everyone has Susan. I’m aware, “she said.

“And you need to have a doctor check for something like this. Don’t blow it away. To be honest, it’s the easiest doctor appointment in the world of all that you go to a doctor. “

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, skin cancer is the most common of all cancers, affecting one in five Americans by the age of 70. The most common risk factors include indoor sunburn, sun exposure, and genetics.

Almost all forms of skin cancer can be treated if detected early. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, 99% of cases can be cured if diagnosed and treated early enough.
