Atlanta breaks rain record for almost 50 years
Atlanta rained 2.33 inches on Saturday due to the claudette. This was a daily rain record for the city on June 19th. The previous rain record on June 19 was 1.42 inches since 1972.
Saturday was the first time Atlanta had seen at least two inches of rain a day since April 24, when it rained 3.18 inches.
Since 2000, Atlanta has had only five days of rain in June, including Saturdays, with at least two inches of rain.

2021 hurricane season
The Claudette became the third named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season at 5 am on Saturday when the system was upgraded to a tropical cyclone about 45 miles southwest of New Orleans.
