Easley, South Carolina (WSPA) – Rebuild Upstate volunteers helped repair a local veteran’s home on Saturday.
Veteran Tammeka Simmons helped lead a team of volunteers repairing veteran Larry Keith’s home. He served in the Air Force for four years.
“There is’mercy’before’good intentions’,” Simmons said. “Before doing good, we are happy to have good. Mr. K and many other veterans have given and sacrificed more than most of us can imagine.”
Keith’s family reached out to rebuild the Upstate house on Ponderosa Cemetery Street. At Easley, they couldn’t safely meet their needs.
From 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday, volunteers worked on floor and ceiling repairs.
“It’s a blessing. It really is,” Keith said. “And that’s something I can’t do anymore. Previously [be that I’d be] I’m helping it there, but it doesn’t happen anymore. ”
“Rebuild Upstate is very proud to serve those who have served our country,” said agency CEO Chris Manley. “We are excited to pay tribute to Veterans Day by having our team of veterans serve our fellow veterans.”
Rebuild Upstate is an organization focused on protecting homes by repairing and / or constructing the additions needed to keep residents in the home.
