Six great coaches helped the shark succeed. Tom Till, renowned head coach at Goucher College, has been teaching Sharks for eight years with Brian Loeffler, who is celebrating his 30th season as head coach for swimming and diving at Loyola University. Leffler is also the top coach for Paralympic swimming. In fact, at the end of the Sharks season, Leffler was preparing for the 2020 Paralympic Summer Paralympics in Tokyo. Courtney Jordan, under the guidance of Loeffler as a Paralympic swimmer, won 12 medals (1 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze) in Beijing, London and Rio games. Longtime Sharks coach and local legend George Kennedy is a former headswim coach at Johns Hopkins University and is now an assistant coach at Loyola University. Anthony van Lierop joined Sharks’ coaching crew in 2016. Originally from Sriname, van Lierop was the first international swimmer to swim jointly at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County and represented Sriname in swimming, cycling and triathlon. The staff concludes with Tim Leffler, a former shark swimmer.
