Las Vegas (KTNV) — Nellis Air Force Base like never before.
The base hosted Red Flag Media Day on Thursday, showing off its vast collection of planes and weapons. 13 Action News spoke with Commander Red Flag, who said most of the US Air Force’s inventory was on display.
The red flag is the best air-to-air combat training exercise of the US Air Force. The goal is to provide crew training and experience with intense aerial combat.
“They will build confidence in the fire,” said Lieutenant Colonel Tyler Steph. “There’s so much happening that it actually creates some challenges that they haven’t seen.”
Nellis also warns that people near the base may experience more noise than usual.
The red flag will continue until August 6th.
