ALCS is finally here.

Game 1 between the Red Sox and the Astros will begin in Houston at 8:07 pm. In the match on Friday, the mound will start a left-handed pair, with the Red Sox throwing Chris Sale and the Astros throwing Framber Valdez.

7 pm

Chris Sale made solid numbers at the start of the nine regular seasons after returning from Tommy John’s surgery (ERA 5-1 at 3.16), but Star Pitcher is arguably the last two. At the start of his career, he went out twice, the worst of his career. Sale threw a 21/3 inning at the start of his last regular season and gave up two runs with four hits and two walks against the Nationals. In Game 2 of ALDS, Sale pitched only one inning, allowing four hits and five runs in one step, giving up the Grand Slam to Rays batter Jordan Luplow. This season, the sale is not against the Astros.

Framber Valdez was an impressive season for the Astros, starting 22 times and finishing 11-6 with 3.14 ERA. He was even more impressive with his two starts with the Red Sox this season, 2-0 on both starts. Valdes threw 141/3 innings on these two starts, allowing two earned runs with 10 hits, two walks and 18 strikeouts.

At his only start at the ALDS, Valdes threw 4 1/3 innings and gave up 4 runs with 7 hits, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts against the White Sox.

On the left-handed mound, right-handed batter Kike Hernandez hits the Red Sox lead-off spot, while left-handed Kyle Schwarber hits second. Schwarber will make his first start tonight, leaving Bobby Dalbec in the carousel between Schwarber, Dalbec, JD Martinez (left fielder) and Alex Verdugo (left fielder) in Game 1.

The starting lineup for the Red Sox is:

1. Kike Hernandez CF

4. Rafael Devers 3B

5. JD Martinez DH

6. Hunter Renfroe RF

7. Alex Verdugo LF
