Pittsburgh (KDKA) — A plan for the first phase of redevelopment of the Civic Arena’s old site may be approved on Tuesday.
It took years to create, but the City Planning Commission will discuss the development of the former Lower Hill.
The focus will be on FNB Corporation. The hearing on Tuesday is the final land development plan for the company’s 26-story tower construction.
The tower will be located at the intersection of Washington Place and Bedford Avenue.
The presentations submitted by the penguins and developers contain over 400 pages of material, and the developers send an open letter to the Hill District community with a promise to the site.
Some of those promises include financial development in Hill, and scholarship opportunities for students.
According to Penguins, several buildings, including concert venues, homes and parking lots, will arrive on the Lower Hill grounds over the next five years.
This raises some concerns from the Hill District Group, and some want to see their homes come first in front of a new office building.
There is also discussion about designing the building to reflect the history of the neighborhood.
The City Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday at 2:00 pm.
Stay at KDKA and learn about the progress from this conference.
