ST.Louis-The body of a Navy sailor killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Tuesday. It should be a moving scene to bury the body of Navy female attendant Class 3 Isaac Parker in full military honor on Tuesday at 1:00 pm.
Parker is from Woodson, Arkansas, and was only 17 years old killed in USS Oklahoma during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Currently his family lives in St. Louis.
Parker’s unidentified body was buried “unknown” at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu in the late 1940s. They were clearly identified through DNA analysis on September 8, 2020.
Parker’s remains arrived at Lambert Airport last Friday. Parker’s father was a World War I veteran, and all three of his brothers served during World War II or the Korean War.
Parker’s niece, Angela Curtis, said her family had a proud history of military service, and Parker was smart and wanted more opportunities than a small town could offer. Curtis said Parker wants to see the world and one day he wants to go on to college.
Those who wish to participate are advised to arrive at the Cemetery Administration Building at 12:30 pm.
Parker is buried with his parents, siblings, and oldest nephew. The ceremony will include details on rifle teams, baglers, and flag folding. That day would have been Parker’s 97th birthday.
