Renewal House 25th Anniversary
The Renewal House celebrated the organization’s 25th Anniversary Ceremony with a beam-raising ceremony at the facility.
A non-profit organization serving women and their children in central Tennessee will double their capabilities at a new facility on Clarksville Pike’s existing campus. Community members were welcomed by the event and learned that the additional 34 apartments would be a 35,000 sq ft facility.
The Renewal House recognizes that separating the mother or future mother from the child during addiction treatment is not effective, so it keeps the mother and child together throughout the recovery process.
Renewal House is the only provider of long-term substance use disorder treatment programs for pregnant women, mothers, and their children in central Tennessee.
The Renewal House, combined with all its programs, serves more than 500 women and children annually. Nonprofits help women stay calm, provide childcare care to their children, improve their physical and mental health, and develop skills to secure employment. The organization has an average waiting list of more than 60 women in need of family-friendly housing services at any given time. Therefore, this addition is urgently needed.
Since 1996, Renewal House has served more than 6,000 women and children through family-friendly housing, outpatient and affordable housing programs. The national opioid crisis has sharply increased the demand for its services. Tennessee is one of the countries with the highest proportion of babies born with neonatal withdrawal syndrome, three times the national average. In addition, overdose is the leading cause of death in pregnant and postpartum women in Tennessee.
