A new report from the Group FirstSreet Foundation highlights cities and counties across the United States where properties and infrastructure are currently facing operational flood risk, and how they will change over the next 30 years.
“Community risk is most concentrated in Louisiana, Florida, Kentucky, and West Virginia, with 17 (85%) of the top 20 highest-risk counties in the United States in these four states. “It is in,” the report said.
The report lists Tampa and St. Petersburg as among the “most endangered” cities. It also has the name Northport in it.
The report suggests that floods are a threat that can render 25% of US infrastructure inoperable. This includes police stations, fire stations, hospitals, airports and wastewater treatment facilities.
