NS. Louis (AP) — Police in St. Louis used force against blacks more than three times as often as whites, according to a survey released Thursday.

The Center for Policing Equity, a non-profit research group based in California, surveyed police report data from 2012 to 2019, with nine out of ten police pulling guns by black civilians. I also found out that I was in the St. Louis Post.Express delivery report..

Overall usage has declined by 18%, and police are still being used more often against blacks, the report said.

Hans Menos, Vice President of Law Enforcement Initiatives at the Center, said: “So we try to control using neighborhood-level demographics, and even after controlling it, the numbers (of blacks who used power against them) are still high.”

Mayor Tishaura Jones said eliminating racial disparities in police is the key to making St. Louis safer for all inhabitants.

Police chief John Hayden said this type of investigation could lead to scrutiny and questions about police practices.

“But we accept the challenge of doing better and consider all suggestions from experts, community stakeholders, and citizens,” Hayden said.
