Sacramento (CBS13) – A one-month curfew on the Purple Layers county in California will officially come into effect on Saturday night.
Coordinating businesses again is another blow, and there are mixed feelings about whether these new rules will work or whether people plan to follow them.
The curfew officially starts at 10 pm
A new one-month rule for counties facing a massive coronavirus surge, issued by Governor Gavin Newsom earlier this week, limits what people can do at night.
In 41 counties of California, the status of the most restrictive purple layer bans all non-essential work and rallies from 10 pm to 5 am.
On Saturday afternoon, people in Sacramento’s Midtown said they had set out to enjoy the day long before the clock reached 10 o’clock. Meanwhile, companies have made considerable preparations.
Most law enforcement agencies in and around Sacramento have said they will not enforce this curfew and will instead continue their educational approach to COVID. But without “teeth” in the rules, the question is whether it makes a lasting difference. Some here tell me … they certainly hope so.
