Restaurant lacking chicken wings – Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky

Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky 2021-05-11 15:32:32 –

Buffalo wings are as American as cold beer when watching football, but suddenly they run out of these delicacies (usually with celery and lunch or blue cheese dressing).

Many restaurants that sell wings are currently suffering from higher prices and scarce supplies.

Restaurant owner Jason Estherkamp said the same labor shortages affecting restaurants like him are also damaging chicken processing plants.

“Chicken producers have trouble opening their production lines,” he said. “So this really comes from that, just as our other people are having a hard time finding employees. They don’t have the workforce to open all the lines. Hmm …. I can only say that the wings are hard to come by, and they are very expensive. “

Esterkamp’s problems are starting to hurt his earnings.

Why wings, why now?

You may be wondering why chicken breasts are lacking when chicken wings are lacking.

This is due to the number of wings required.

The restaurant may sell hundreds of chicken breasts a week, but in the same week it sells well over 1,000, if not thousands, chicken wings.

“There was nothing wrong with the chicken breast,” says Esterkamp.

This is good news for grocery shoppers.

But Restaurant businessTrade magazines warn that “a major wing shortage is occurring.”

Some restaurants currently limit takeaway orders. The· Bo Jungles Southern Chicken Chain Recently, their wings were temporarily off, but tweeted, “I’ll be back soon.”

Esterkamp hopes it won’t happen.

“To date, we haven’t run out of chicken wings yet,” he said. “Our biggest problem is the cost of chicken wings.”

Esterkamp says he doesn’t intend to switch to cheaper and smaller warehouse club wings, but may need to raise prices if the shortage continues.

As always, don’t waste your money.
