Kansas City, Missouri-Judges of the Jackson County Circuit Court ruled Thursday that a temporary detention order should continue to be valid for the Rays Cafe in Blue Springs.
In the ruling, Judge Jennifer Phillips said the order would remain valid unless the restaurant complied with the county’s public health order requiring masks in most indoor environments.
The judge’s order prohibits Rays Cafe and its owner, Amanda Wallets, from operating the cafe directly or indirectly in violation of health orders.
In addition, the judge ordered the cafe to cease operations as a restaurant and food service provider until a valid food permit was obtained. Jackson County revoked its food service permit on September 3, 2021 after repeatedly violating public health orders.
The judge also ruled against the counterclaim filed by a cafe lawyer earlier this week.
The parties will meet on September 24 for a case management hearing.
