CHARLOTTE (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — Prosecutors say retaliation may have led to a shooting that killed a 3-year-old boy.
FOX 46 received an incident report showing that one of the suspects’ homes was shot 24 hours before the shooting in which the child was killed.
According to incident reports, at least one of the victims of the first shooting in Kiev Drive was a student at Hopewell High School.
Police said they had connections with several local high schools early on.
In court on Thursday, the judge refused to break the bond with one of the suspects. The judge said he had been accused of “extreme violence” and was expelled from police and led to pursuit.
According to police, the suspect dropped about 150 bullets at Richard Rosell Drive’s house. It was the house where a 3-year-old Asian Figueroa was killed in a shooting on September 7.
Qua’tonio Stephens is one of three arrested in connection with the shooting. He was subsequently charged with accessories.
But police say Stevens is also involved in other shootings.
In court on Thursday, prosecutors and lawyers said Stevens had admitted that he had shot at another house in the same neighborhood as the three-year-old’s house in retaliation for his house being shot early at night.
Prosecutors say two other houses nearby have been attacked, but Stevens’ lawyer says he has never told police that his client was involved in another shooting. ..
“Mr. Stevens allowed only one shot at the occupied territories, but at this stage there is reason for the court to believe that another house was shot as a result of Mr. Stevens or someone else. I was with him, “said Rob Corbett, Stevens’ defense lawyer.
Police say they tried to pull Stevens after the shooting, but he led them in pursuit.
He crashed the car, and prosecutors said two guns matching the caliber and casing found in a series of shootings and the killing of Figueroa in Asia in the car Stevens was driving. Is said to have been recovered by the police.
Prosecutors say cases involving other shootings will go before the grand jury on Monday.
