Retired Fresno police officer arrested for threatening, assaulting former city council member – Fresno, California

Fresno, CA (KFSN)-Former Fresno police officer Raymond Eddie was arrested after authorities said he threatened former Fresno city councilman Oliver Baines on Wednesday night.

Fresno police say police officers were called to a housing complex on Nice Avenue, west of Blackstone Avenue, around 7:40 pm.

Officials say 52-year-old Eddie has entered into discussions with Baines about a “failed business venture.”

During the battle, police say Eddie held a gun around Baines’ neck and threatened to kill him. Eddie also allegedly hit Baines several times.

Fresno police say Baines was slightly injured in the fight.

Police officers believed that Eddie was drunk at the time. He was arrested in a complex parking lot.

Eddie was held in Fresno County Jail and charged with several charges, including gun assault, criminal intimidation, and drunk driving.
