Baton Rouge (AP) — The Louisiana Revenue Department said thousands of taxpayers would need to claim an income tax refund of $ 10 million or more by September 15.

The agency said in a statement that refunds were available but sent letters to 12,818 people and businesses that did not cash refund checks sent between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020. Said. Taxpayers must fill out the form included in the letter by the September deadline.

If the taxpayer does not request a refund, $ 10.2 million will be unclaimed property. They will be available later through the accounting firm that oversees Louisiana’s unclaimed property program.
