Live performances are slowly returning as many people have reduced their use of masks due to vaccinations and announcements by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Broadway will not officially return until September, but Radio City Music Hall will reopen on June 19th, hosting the final night of the Tribeca Film Festival (guests must be vaccinated). Also, throughout New York, venues such as Park Avenue Armory and St. Ann’s Warehouse are already experimenting with socially distant outdoor performances to carefully revive live theaters.
Last year the Summer Stock Theater Festival was completely canceled, but this season we’ll be back with some adjustments. While all shows are performed outdoors at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts, masks are required at the Utah Shakespeare Festival and concessions are offered only outdoors.
