NS. Pauls, NC (WBTW) — Increased rewards for tips leading to arrest for the murder of a former St. Pauls athlete.
Marquis Coleman, 19, was shot dead on 885 N. Alford Road last week and was found to have been taken to the hospital in a private car. He was later sentenced to death at the UNC Southeast Medical Center.
Previously, a $ 3,000 reward was offered for tips leading to arrest. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a local businessman contacted Robeson County Sheriff Bernice Wilkins and donated an additional $ 5,000 to the Compensation Fund.
The reward is now $ 8,000.
“This is another example of how our community wants to come together to fight crime and bring something like closure to a sad family,” Wilkins said in a statement.
