The River Front Times Recently received a $ 25,000 grant from Lippmann Center Initiative in Reporting Race and Criminal Justice..
The Lippmann Center for Journalism and Citizens and Human Rights is part of the Columbia Journalism School and runs several programs to help journalists and newsrooms investigate law enforcement, imprisonment, human rights violations and more. A press initiative on race and criminal justice tells local newsrooms and reporters the finances to work on a six-month research project to “reveal the inequality and what went wrong in the American criminal justice system.” Provide support.
Staff writer Ryan Kururu wrote a grant proposal to further investigate Missouri prisons. Staff writer Monica Obradvich will also help with this project.
The center awarded the grant for the first time last year. Jerani Cobb, New Yorker Contributors and experts on US history and race RFT staff. Cobb directs the center and assists in the selection of grant recipients. The funds will be used for travel, data visualization, analysis, record requests, and more.
