Richard Lipsey wins the Patriot Award from the Louisiana Veterans Museum Foundation for the River II fundraising on December 8th.
A 1940s-themed fundraising activity that benefits the USS Kidd Veterans Museum will take place from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the museum’s 305 S. River Road, by chef John Fors’s Audble, Ricees. Includes drinks. Verses and Three Roll Estates and Entertainment.
Lipsey’s patriotism dates back to his school days when he was the cadet colonel of the 3,000 LSU cadets. As a young infantry officer, he led the restoration of the Camp Pork facility, and the camp officially became Fort Polk.
Lipsey commanded the honorary guard of President John F. Kennedy, who was killed while serving as adjutant to General Philip C. Vere in Washington, DC.
In recent years, he has led the restoration of the LSU Memorial Tower in a new museum to honor its military history.
Lipsey has participated in several charitable, civil, and advisory boards, including some of the LSUs. He has been a leader in higher education for many years and was a member of the Louisiana Board of Directors from 2013 to 2019, engaged in early childhood education and higher education from kindergarten to grade 12.
USS Kidd and the Museum can take a tour while observing coronavirus limits during the event.
