The marching band hasn’t appeared in the Olympics, but instead the band wants to scream.
“This is a marching band from Rio Rancho High School. Good luck with Reagan at the Olympics, good luck at the Olympics. Reagan, oops!”
Maria Phillips and her family sought help from high school to send a message of encouragement to her brother and Reagan.
“They need as much help as they can. It’s an important time. She worked hard to come here and my brother helped her. So I split my love. I took it to high school because I wanted to share it, “Maria said.
This is not the first time a family has participated in the Olympics.
“In 1996, my other brother, Chainey Umphrey, was actually on the men’s gymnastics team and he competed for the United States,” Maria said.
Tokyo is thousands of miles away, but in many respects the marching band said they have a lot in common.
“Like the Olympics, they connect everyone in the world,” Maria said.
