Lexington, Kentucky (LEX 18) — Some people in Kentucky were racing in Keeneland on Thursday morning while many of us were asleep.
NS Bluegrass Runner Thoroughbred Classic 5K This is a Thanksgiving tradition for many and this year came back directly after the 2020 break for a pandemic.
Even a stable downpour did not stop more than 2,000 runners and walkers from crossing the finish line.
“Both madness or dedication,” said Danny Collins, who ran the race with his wife in a turkey hat. “I think it’s great, right? Everyone is here and having a good time.”
“Oh, well,” said Brian Nichols. “I ran in the rain many times this year. Maybe it will make me run faster.”
The funds raised from this year’s operations will be donated to six local charities: the Allegro Dance Project, Lexington’s CASA, Central Kentucky Radio Eye, E7 Kids Cafe, FEED, Kentucky Equal Justice Center and The Nest.
