Rutherford County, Tennessee (WKRN) — Rutherford County officials safely rescued a person in a box truck stuck in a rising water level on Monday afternoon.
The box truck was found in the water near 400 blocks of Elam Road, with the occupants still inside.
Drones were used to evaluate options for safely moving occupants out of the vehicle. The crew decided to place the boat team upstream to rescue the uninjured.
When the truck got stuck, it wasn’t carrying anything.
Several agencies have assisted in water rescue, including Rutherford County Fire Rescue (RCFR), Murfreesboro Fire Department (MFRD), Rutherford County Security Officer’s Office (RCSO), and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services.
“Thanks to the seamless operation between RCFR, MFRD, RCSO, and RCEMS, the occupants were safely unloaded from the vehicle and returned to the dry land evaluated by rescue personnel,” said Captain Andy Haston.
The RCFR said high water warnings and road closures are occurring in many areas.
“We do this kind of training often, but we want the population to be very careful when navigating the flooded areas. It’s best to look back and find another route. “Huston said.
