Sacramento (CBS13) — The Sacramento Zoo is scheduled to open by the weekend as the curfew in the area has been lifted.
On Tuesday, the Greater Sacramento region was returned to the reopening purple layer after more than a month, under increasing restrictions due to the surge in COVID-19 numbers.
At this level, many companies are now able to resume outdoor operations. This includes restaurants, gyms and places of worship. Museums, zoos and aquariums can now be reopened.
Sacramento Zoo officials say it will resume during normal business hours on Friday.
“We look forward to reopening the sunny zoo this weekend,” Sacramento Zoo director Jason Jacobs said in a statement.
